Konichiwa and Welcome to my first attempt at building a web page. My name's David but my friends call me Dave (except my closest friends, who call me David). My call-sign is FUDD like the handsome rabbit hunter. I'm a Family Practice trained Squadrom Medical Element (Flight Surgeon) most recently stationed at Misawa Air Base in northern Japan. I've deployed twice to Iraq, first as clinical advisor to the Iraqi Surgeon General in 2005 and more recently with the Samurai to Balad Air Base in central Iraq where I functioned as a traditional flight surgeon. I recently graduated from Harvard University School of Public Health in Boston where I got my MPH as part of the 3 year Residency in Aerospace Medicine. Now I'm back home in Texas doing my Aerospace Medicine year and spending time with friends from college (Hook'm !!!) I did my initial residency in Family Practice in 2000 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center after graduating from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City. Before medicine I was a bellman at the Marriott in San Antonio and Austin, Texas. Before that I ran a food program for people with AIDS in Oakland, California and worked with Mother Theresa's Sisters of Charity. Please enjoy this snapshot of my life because it truly is a blessed one and I'm greatful to God to have the opportunity to do all the cool things I do. Enjoy !!!

Shimoda Salmon Festival : The Shimoda Salmon Festival is a yearly event held in northern Japan. The purpose is to celebrate the salmon's contribution to the community. The REAL purpose of the celebration however, is to see how many Americans they can get to pay 2000 yen to slosh around in the water and freeze our butts off. Of course I participated.

National Cowboy Museum--Oklahoma City : OK. I admit I wasn't looking forward to spending two weeks in Oklahoma City. But I have to admit the people were quite friendly and we had a good time (as good as you can have working behind a desk at least). Here are some pics from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. It was a rare Alpha and Bravo RAM joint event and fun was had by all.

Jesus' Burial Site : These are pics of what some Japanese believe to be Jesus' burial site. There is a small town in the mountains about 100KM from Misawa that believes Jesus was not crucified. Instead, his borther took his place and he escaped to Japan (where he had developed his teachings between the age of 12 and 33 when there is no record of him in Israel). He then married and lived to be 108 years old, living out his golden years in Northern Japan. The town has a Christian church and 2 large crosses to signify Jesus and his brother. They do NOT claim Jesus is buried at this exact spot. Incidentally, the town also has a beer factory that offers tours with "all you can drink" included.

Omaha Nebraska : Omaha was a great place to do my residency. I completed the joint residency program of the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Offutt Air Force Base in 2003. The people of Nebraska are the warmest, kindest most genuine people I've ever met. They made the rigors of residency a fun experience. Omaha is famous for steak, the College World Series and the palatial home of Nick and Sadie. Omaha is not the kind of place you vacation, it's the kind of place you LIVE (and then go somewhere else when you truly want to have fun)

MIA/POW Joint Task Force Full Accounting-Laos 2003 : These are pics of my deployment to Laos in 2003. Joint Task Force Full Accounting is a military mission to Southeast Asia (and anywhere there are remains of fallen US soldiers) to return the remains of those killed during the Vietnam War. We stayed in a village 30 miles from our dig site, eating (and drinking ofcourse) with the locals. Every morning we would fly over the Ho Chi Minh Trail to a mountainside where we would look for the remains of two pilots killed when their plane crashed into the side of the mountain. I was the physician charged with caring for the search team and the locals who helped us dig. When I wasn't working as a doc, I dug like everyone else.
